After handing over the charge of Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) to Atanu Chakraborty (IAS:1985:GJ) Subhash Chandra Garg announced his VRS. In a tweet he wrote;

“.....Will take charge in Power Ministry tomorrow. Have also applied for VRS from the IAS w.e.f. October 31”
