J&K Governor N N Vohra may soon appoint former IAS officer Khurshid Ahmad Ganai (IAS:1982:JK) as his advisor. Ganai resigned from the coveted position of Chief Information Commissioner on Thursday evening to pave way for his appointment as third advisor to Vohra. He was appointed as CIC on 27 Feb 2017. Reportedly, N N Vohra is expected to appoint one more adviser soon. It may be underlined that Governor's term expired yesterday (28 June 2018) and centre's communique from Rashtrapati Bhawan regarding his extension is yet awaited. Vohra assumed office in 2008 and later received an extension in 2013. The constitutional position of the state was that the governor will hold office "during the pleasure of the president" but as per constitution, the governor shall hold office for a term of 05 years from the date of "on which he enters his office".
