As the newly formed government at centre had stated months back that the posts of DRDO Chief and Scientific Advisor to RM will be separated. Keeping with its promise the GoI has appointed the eminent missile scientist G Satheesh Reddy as the Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for a two-year term. Reddy is currently serving with DRDO as Director, Research Centre IMARAT and Programme Director of Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM). The post was vacant and Defence Secretary had been carrying the additional charge of the position since January 30, 2015 after Avinash Chander's (erstwhile DRDO Chief) contract was curtailed abruptly.
