Praveen Chakravarthy, a former IDFC Director, is about to join and head the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Studies (RGICS) which is the top think tank of the Congress Party. Chakravarthy is a nephew of N. Gopalaswami (IAS:1966: GJ), former Chief Election Commissioner of India. In political, official, and business circles, Chakravarthy is known for his close friendship with Jairam Ramesh, Rajiv Lall and Nandan Nilekani with whom he worked on the Aadhaar project. He recently took over as the Head of Congress Data Analytics cell. Earlier, he was MD of BNP Paribas India. Praveen Chakravarty and K Raju, inducted recently, in Rahul Gandhi's core team - are likely to play key roles in RGICS.
