Lucknow (23.11.2023): Sulkhan Singh (Retd IPS: 1980: UP), former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh, has announced the formation of a political party — Bundelkhand Loktantrik Party (BLP) -- to ensure separate statehood for Bundelkhand region. This region encompasses eight parliamentary constituencies -- four in Uttar Pradesh and four in Madhya Pradesh.

His political venture draws inspiration from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader KC Rao's successful campaign for a separate Telangana state from Andhra Pradesh. Singh accused successive governments of neglecting the Bundelkhand region.

He acknowledged having attempted to engage with established parties regarding the region's issues, but to no avail. His vision for this new state would include the amalgamation of seven districts in Uttar Pradesh – Banda, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jalaun, Jhansi, and Lalitpur – with eight districts in Madhya Pradesh – Damoh, Panna, Chattarpur, Datia, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Niwadi, and Ashok Nagar.
