Amaravati (02.03.2026): K Vijayanand (Retd IAS: 1992: AP), former Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh whose extended tenure came to an end on February 28, 2026, has been appointed as Ex-Officio Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Special Chief Secretary (Energy) by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He had handed over the charge to new Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad (IAS: 1991: AP).Vijayanand will also serve as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (APTRANSCO) for a period of one year. The AP government clarified that in his new role overseeing the Energy Department, Vijayanand will report directly to the chief minister, without intermediary administrative reporting structures.
