Krishnamurthi died on Sunday at the age of 81 in Kolkata. He was considered the
architect of the state's new industrial policy. He is also credited with
bringing GNLF (1985-89) to the table and negotiate a settlement for peace in
Darjeeling hills. Krishnamurthi had an excellent
working rapport with the state's former chief minister, late Jyoti Basu.
He was cremated on Monday.
