The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the extension in up-gradation of five posts of DS/Director to the level of Joint Secretary for a specified period. Whereas two posts upgraded from DS/Director to JS level were restored to their original status of DS/Director:

1. The post of Joint Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, presently held by Ms. Indira Murthy (CSS) up to 30.10.2020
2. The post of Joint Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat, presently held by Sandeep Sarkar (lDAS:1995) up to 02.07.2020
3. The post of CEO/DG, National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) under the Department of Sports presently held by Navin Agarwal (IPS:1986:JK) up to 26.06.2020.
4. Saurabh Jain (lAS:2002:KL) Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs with additional charge of the post of Commissioner (JS level), Eklavya Model Residential School Society (EMRSS) by utilizing the available post of Commissioner, EMRSS in Ministry of Tribal Affairs;
5. The post of Joint Secretary (Director level) to Additional Secretary (JS level) in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), presently held by R K Gathwal (CSS) up to 07.09.2020.

Further the appointment of Keshav Chandra (IAS:1995:UT) and Sudhir Garg (IRSEE:1986) as Joint Secretary in Department of Commerce and Ministry of MSME respectively were adjusted to the available regular vacancy of Joint Secretary. Previously they served as JS against the posts upgraded from DS/Director to JS. Both JS posts were restored to its original status of DS/Director.
