Even several senior IAS officers are unable to explain as why
the field posting has turned out to be a mirage for 18 young IAS officers belonging
to 2016 and 2017 batch in Telangana. They have been eagerly awaiting postings
as the Sub Collectors in any of the 33 districts in the State for the last several
months; many of them for more than a year. Eight IAS officers on 10 October 2018 had completed their
training and reported in the GAD, Govt of Telangana for posting. The KCR Government
had then posted all of them as Special Officers in 08 districts, mostly as OSD
to District Collectors, and till date they continue to work in the same
position. Similar is the case with 10
IAS officers belonging to 2017 batch. Their batchmates in other States have already been posted as
Sub Collectors whereas in Telangana young officers are still awaiting orders to
get field posting instead of District Collectorate. Few months back Telangana IAS Officers Association too took up
the issue with then Chief Secretary S K Joshi but that too did not work. Indianmandarins interacted with few officers belonging to
these batches. They wished if Union Department of Personnel in the Centre (DOPT)
would intervene in these matters but no one is sure what was going to happen
next.
