A corporate lobbyist on Sunday tweeted that Union I&B Secretary was sent on a forced leave following the recent controversy.
In the wake of the PMO dismissing I&B ministry's circular on fake news and PIB accreditation, everyone including top officials assumed the news to be correct.
However, it became clear on Monday that the tweet was mischievous and inaccurate - there was no official confirmation of the I&B secretary being made to go on a forced leave.
But the fake news served its purpose - by triggering mischievous speculations in the corridors of power.
