Shillong (26.09.2025): The Government of Meghalaya has named Dr Shakeel P Ahammed (IAS: 1995: AM) as the next Chief Secretary of the state. He will succeed the current Chief Secretary, Donald Philip Wahlang (IAS: 1993: AM), who is set to retire on September 30, 2025. He has terms in service till November 2026.Dr Ahammed currently serves as the Additional Chief Secretary for several departments, including Home, Water Resources, and Corporate Social Responsibility. He also holds the position of Chairman, Board of Revenue, Govt of Meghalaya.In addition to his new role as Chief Secretary, he will also take on the responsibilities of the State Vigilance Commissioner, Meghalaya.
