Imphal (07.05.2023): Following the repatriation of NTA Chief Vineet Joshi (IAS:1992:MN) from Centre the Government of Manipur on Sunday appointed him as new Chief Secretary of Manipur, a north-eastern state rocked by violence and arson.
At Centre Joshi worked as Additional Secretary in the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and headed the key vertical; National Testing Agency (NTA).
As new CS Joshi gets the charge of Finance, IT and Cabinet/Planning and also gets the additional responsibilities of Resident Commissioner, Manipur Bhawan, and Chief Vigilance Commissioner of the state.
In view of emergency situation the state government cut shorts the second extended tenure of Dr Rajesh Kumar (IAS:1988:MN) who was given second extension in a row as CS for a period of six-month w.e.f. 01.01.2023.
It may be underlined that Joshi superseded three other IAS officers MH Khan (IAS:1988:MN), A Moses Challai (IAS:1990:MN) and P Vaiphei (IAS:1991:MN).
