He will succeed Anjani Kumar Singh (IAS:1981:BH) retiring this month. AK Singh was given service extension for a period of three months beginning 01 March 2018. Deepak Kumar was on May 17, 2018 repatriated from NHAI to his cadre state Bihar. The timing of Kumar's repatriation itself was the clear indication of his appointment as Bihar CS.
