Acting PESB Chairman Anshuman Kumar Das reliquished the charge on completion of tenure (on 18 August 2018) as Member, PESB. Reportedly, Ms Gauri Kumar (Retd IAS:1979:GJ) has been mandated to Chair the selection board and she too will be completing her tenure in the last week of September. 

Keeping in view the procedural complexity and time consuming process of selection and appointment of Chairman & Member Madhusudan Prasad (Retd IAS:1981:HY) may remain as the sole steerer of the selection board in a couple of days.

It may be mentioned that PESB has been functioning without a regular Chairman since the third week of July 2017 following the appointment of Sanjay Kothari (Retd IAS:1978: HY), the then PESB Chairman, as Secretary to the President of India.

The irony is that, absence of any formal announcement on advertisement of the posts had created an atmosphere of uncertainty across CPSEs and other stake holders.
