A two-day International HR Summit 2017, organized by SCOPE, was inaugurated in New Delhi by Central Vigilance Commissioner K.V. Chowdary.
Present on the occasion were Ms Seema Bahuguna, IAS, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ved Prakash, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, MMTC, Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE, Mr. Mukesh C. Gupta, Chief Technical Adviser, International Labour Organization (ILO) and other dignitaries.
The Special Issue of SCOPE house journal, KALEIDOSCOPE on "Global Competitiveness: Challenges and Best Practices in HR" was also released on the occasion.
In his inaugural speech, the CVC said that HR today is facing a big challenge of managing the diverse workforce having diverse expectations and high ambition. He said that HR needs to identify areas of training that their employees need and advised HR executives to build a bond between employees and the organization. HR needs to be a facilitator in striking a work-life balance that will have a huge impact on the quality of work the employees perform, he added.
Smt. Seema Bahuguna, IAS, Secretary, DPE & Guest of Honour, advised HR professionals to constantly innovate, stay ahead of the curve and play a critical role to align themselves with the organizational goals. She advised PSEs to formulate dynamic HR policies that will help them to create a niche with the globally competitive market.
Ved Prakash, Chairman, SCOPE said that innovation and creativity have become important today as economies are knowledge driven. He said HR needs to invest in enhancing the competitiveness and skills of their employees.
Dr. U.D. Choubey, DG, SCOPE advised PSEs to go an extra mile and innovate, adopt and adapt for building a brand culture of PSEs. He said today HR is facing several challenges of creating a corporate culture based on trust and community relations. While speaking on motivation, he said while extrinsic motivation provides a measurable benchmark, intrinsic motivation goes a long way in fulfilling self-actualization needs of the employees thereby creating more value for the organization and employees.
Dr. Vinayshil Gautam, Sr. MD & Principal Economic Adviser, Protiviti India Member Pvt Ltd, Mukesh C. Gupta, Chief Technical Adviser, ILO, Mr. Saptarshi Roy, Director (HR), NTPC & Summit Convener and Anandorup Ghose, Partner, Aon Hewitt also addressed the inaugural session which was attended by large number of CEOs, Directors and Senior Executives of public sector enterprises.
