The outgoing Chairman of Railway Board A K Mital (IRSS:1976) has been given two-year extension of service beyond retirement, due on July 31, 2016.
He will continue as CRB till he would attain 62 yrs age on 31 July 2018.
A K Mital's re-appointment has made it for certain that he will be the Chairman for the longest tenure of 43 months.
In terms of tenure he would leave behind F C Badhwar (IRSE), the first Chairman of Railway board who served form April 1951 to September 1954 ; longest tenure till date i.e.42 months.
