The results of civil services examination reflected that commoners can dream of joining the coveted civil services, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Tuesday, while congratulating top three rank holders--Tina Dabi, Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan, and Jasmeet Singh Sandhu--of the 2015 civil services examination.
"The three toppers represent the hitherto lesser represented sections of society in civil services, which is an indication that the IAS and civil services have finally moved away from being 'elite services' as they were generally described earlier.
"The government is committed to making civil services more and more identifiable with the aspirations of the common man," Singh said.
With Tina hailing from weaker section of society, Athar hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and Jasmeet belonging to minority community, he said, the top brass of future civil servants will truly represent the aspirations of the average common man of this country.
"This will also go a long way in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to providing citizen-centric governance through civil servants who actually represent the common citizen of India," said Singh.
