CBI on Monday filed, on the basis of an ED report, a FIR against its ex-director AP Singh (2010-2012). The FIR also included the names of meat exporter Moin Qureshi; Qureshi's businessman friend Pradeep Koneru - whose name also figured in the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy disproportionate assets case, and others. The move is seen as a clear move to spare no one from the UPA-2 regime.
The naming of Singh in the FIR follows in less than a month after the Supreme Court ordered a probe into former CBI director Ranjit Sinha for his private meetings with some of the coal-scam accused.
The FIR alleged that Qureshi, during the tenure of Singh as CBI chief, obtained money from individuals and business entities for allegedly favoring them in corruption cases, influencing intelligence reports and seeking favors.
The CBI's FIR cited the Enforcement Directorate complaint stating that "Qureshi has been indulging as a middleman for certain public servants and that analysis of records discloses commission of a cognizable offense."
