Ashwani Lohani (IRSME:1980) has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director, Air India Limited for the period up to June 2018. Presently serving (on deputation in Govt of MP) as Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Lohani will take over from Rohit Nandan (IAS:1982:UP) immediately after he would be posted as Secretary, Govt of India.
The appointment of Lohani as successor to Rohit Nandan has made it clear that Rohit Nandan would be among the first lot of 1982 IAS officers (empanelled as Secretary) to be posted as Secretary, GoI.
