The ACC's decision says it all. ACC, on 28 November, extended the tenure of additional charge of the post of Director (Project) to R P Sasmal for another 24 weeks w.e.f. 11 November 2016. Sasmal currently serves as Director (Operation) PGCIL and holds the additional charge of Director (Project), a post to which Prashant Singh (ED, PGCIL) was selected by the public sector headhunter on 03rd October 2016. Keeping in view a tentative six weeks time it takes for ACC to ratify an appointment the extension of tenure of additional charge could be for a period of another two months or so. But six months time indicates towards inordinate delay. Though the ACC order categorically mentions that Sasmal would hold the additional charge for six months (w.e.f. 11th November 2016) or till the appointment of a regular incumbent. But extension of additional charge for another six months time has triggered speculations over inordinate delay. It may be noted that the post of Director (Project) fell vacant after I S Jha appointed as CMD of PGCIL on 10 November 2015.
