As Indianmandarins had reported first (see weblinks) the NaMo administration on Wednesday cleared the appointment of Arvind Kumar (IPS:1984:AM) as Director Intelligence Bureau and Samant Kumar Goyal (IPS:1984:PB) as RAW Chief. Further, the Amitabh Kant (IAS:1980:KL), the outgoing CEO of NITI Aayog, was given extension for a period of two years ending June 30, 2021. Kant's extended tenure (six months) was scheduled to be over on June 30. 2019.

Arvind Kumar replaces Rajiv Jain (IPS:1982:JH) whereas Samant Kumar Goyal replaces Anil Kumar Dhasmana (IPS:1981:MP).
