Indianmandarins
has reliably learnt that selection for the post of Director General, Council of
Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-cum-Secretary, Department of
Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) has reached final stage and the
appointment may be cleared very soon. If some top sources are to be believed the
Search-cum-Selection-Committee had interviewed as many as eight candidates of
which two appear to have been considered for final call on part of the ACC.
Reportedly, four candidates were from CSIR whereas four were from outside the
organisation. Indianmandarins learns that the tie is between the
two eminent scientists namely Professor Alok Dhawan and Dr A Ajayaghosh.
Prof Dhawan is Director of the
Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (Lucknow) whereas Dr

Prof Ashutosh Sharma (Secretary, Dept of Science & Tech) was on 23 August
given the additional charge of DG CSIR-cum-Secretary-Dept of Science &Technology.
