Amravati (29.11.2025): In a significant move to ensure administrative continuity at the highest level, the Andhra Pradesh government has secured the Centre's consent for a three-month extension for Chief SecretaryK. Vijayanand (IAS: 1992: AP).
The extension allows Vijayanand to continue in the top bureaucratic role until the end of February 2026. His current tenure was slated to conclude tomorrow, on November 30, 2025, upon his superannuation.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is said to be keen on retaining Vijayanand for a brief period to steer the administration.
A section of government insiders suggests that the Chief Minister has identified G. Sai Prasad (IAS: 1991: AP), the Special Chief Secretary for Water Resources, as the likely successor. Sai Prasad is reportedly slated to succeed Vijayanand as the next Chief Secretary after his extended term ends in March 2026.
