Having divested of the charge of Technical Education and assigned with Statistics Division, a comparatively insignificant portfolio last week Amarjeet Sinha (IAS:BH:1983) has reportedly made a request to the GoI to shift him laterally from HRD. In the month of September 2014 Sinha was appointed as Additional Secretary, Technical Education and had handling the verticals like IITs & IIMs in the ministry. Reportedly, the charge of Technical Education has been split into three parts and have been distributed among three Joint Secretaries; though for time being. The corridors of power are abuzz that the move of divesting him of his present responsibilities has elicited sharp reactions among many top bureaucrats as he is considered to be a highly efficient officer who had set the pace in clearing the pending issues pertaining to IITs and IIMs. Sinha, an alumnus of prestigious St Stephens (Delhi University), has as many seven books to his credit. Those who know the government affairs well do not need elaboration as what caused the sudden move of the government.
