New Delhi (01.11.2024): With the consent of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Poll-bound Jharkhand has got a new Chief Secretary as Alka Tiwari (IAS: 1988: JH) on 01.11.2024. She has succeeded L Khiangte (IAS: 1988: JH) who retired on 31.10.2024. Years back her husband Devendra Kumar Tiwari (Retd IAS: 1986: JH) had also served as the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand and later became the State Election Commissioner in Jharkhand. It may be further underlined that DK Tiwari's younger brother Rajendra Kumar Tiwari (IAS: 1985: UP) also served as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh from 30 August 2019 to 30 December 2021.
She had repatriated from the Centre as Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST). As the Chief Secretary she may have a complete one-year stint i.e. till her superannuation on 30.09.2025.
