The
government may follow Search-cum-selection route to fill three vacant posts of
directors in Air India as the PESB route may involve a lot of time. Currently, the
posts of Commercial, Personnel and Operations Directors are vacant. Other
executives in the company have been handling the additional charge of these
posts to date. The
government may also invite private sector professionals for these posts. On November
14, 2018, the government permitted the ministries to appoint board-level
executives in public sector companies under their administrative control,
without taking approval from the PESB or Department of Public Enterprise (DPE).
