Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the PMO is expected to clear the appointment of a Member in SEBI shortly - a post which fell vacant after its full-time Member (FTM) Prashant Sharan retired in June after serving for over seven years.
Sources said Rajiv Kumar Agarwal (former SEBI Member) and Manas Ray (Executive Director, SEBI) are being considered for appointment as a member. The applications for the vacant post were invited till 12th August 2016. It may be noted that Rajiv Kumar Agarwal had completed his tenure as FTM in September this year. As per the provisions, Agarwal had to apply for the post afresh.
The appointment will be for a maximum period of five years, or till the attainment of the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
