New Delhi (07.03.2025): Oil sector giant Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) gets a top corporate executive as its new CMD for a period of five years. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet announced the appointment of Vikas Kaushal as CMD, HPCL. Currently, Kaushal works as the Global Head, Energy & Process Industries at Kearney. In terms of retirement age Kaushal may have an extended term till September 2031. 
Indianmandarins had in its report dated 12.12.2024 indicated well that the appointment of HPCL CMD may swing a surprise. (CLICK TO READ).
Interestingly, during the India Energy Week, held last month, there was a murmuring that Kaushal was not inclined to have any such position but that might be a posturing only. 
It may be underlined that the CMD post in HPCL has been vacant since August 01. 2024. The then CMD Pushp Kumar Joshi retired on July 31, 2024. In the meanwhile Rajneesh Narang, Director (Finance), held the additional charge of CMD post.
At first, PESB-route was adopted to find Joshi’s successor in March 2024 wherein nine candidates appeared before PESB for selection interview. The board did not find a suitable candidate and recommended search-cum-selection route.
