New Delhi (04.12.2024): The Government of Andhra Pradesh government suspended a 1996 batch IPS officer and former Additional Director General of CID with immediate effect.
Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad (IAS: 1987: AP) issued an order that explained that the government, after careful examination of two reports, have concluded that IPS officer N Sanjay is the primary accused in misutilisation of government funds and it is necessary to place him under suspension pending enquiry.
N Sanjay has been placed at the Headquarters (Vijaywada). During the suspension period he shall not leave the Headquarters without obtaining the permission of Government.
The allegations pertain to his tenure as Director General of AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services.
The chief secretary, in two -page suspension order, has elaborated the tenders issued by N Sanjay while working as Director General of AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services and sanction of payment order. “As such, IPS N Sanjay made payment in a hurried manner causing misappropriation of funds by abuse of office power and breach of Public trust,” stated the suspension order.
It may be recalled that during Jagan Reddy regime N Chandrababu Naidu spent nearly two months in jail in Skill Development Corporation scam and alignment of Amaravati Inner Ring Road scam cases. It was N Sanjay who probed the case thus became instrumental into Naidu’s arrest.
After Naidu assumed office as CM in June this year Sanjay was transferred and asked to report to the office of the DGP. The Naidu government also ordered the Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) Department to investigate the allegations against the IPS officer.
