Jain will have a short stint as Chairman as he will superannuate on January 31, 2016. In all probabilities Jain may attempt for two months extension (beyond Jan 31) as Budget 2016-17 would be on Govt's top most priority by that time. But insiders say that he may not be given extension as S K Ray (IRS IT:1978), Member CBDT, could be the dark horse after Jain retires on January 31, 2016.
