Almost every senior-level officer in Railway Board knows what has made an Executive Director level post a puzzle; a key post that is vacant for over 11 months. This would be the third attempt to fill the vacancy and in all probability, the Selection Committee comprising the Railway Board Chairman, Member Staff, and Financial Commissioner would succeed this time. This is what several senior-level officers at Railway Board believe.

The post of ED Finance (Commercial), considered a plum post, was advertised on June 26, 2020, for the third consecutive time. In the previous two attempts, the Selection Committee picked two IRAS officers consecutively but surprisingly the recommendations were put on hold. This is the third attempt for which the last date of submission of the application ended on 12 July. This time Board is clear to clear the long pendency.

Reportedly, the same officer may be picked in the third round of selection whose recommendation was put on hold in the first attempt.

It may be underlined that the post of ED, Finance (Expenditure) is considered key post at Railway Board as it has an important role to play in the implementation of its ambitious and a game-changer project that aims at running 151 private trains on 109 routes for the next 35 years.
