'Indianmandarins' reliably learns that a 1982 batch IAS officer will be appointed as Chairman, National Highways Authority of India. Reportedly, seven names have been short-listed for the post but former Air India CMD Rohit Nandan (IAS:1982:UP) and FMC Chairman Ramesh Abhishek (IAS:1982:BH) have brighter prospects. In addition, Addl Secretary Commerce J S Deepak (IAS:1982:UP), AS&FA Dept of Culture  Raghav Chandra (IAS:1982:MP) and K K Jalan (IAS:1982:HY) have also appeared on the panel for final call. The post of NHAI Chairman had fallen vacant after R P Singh had completed his tenure on June 11. Presently MoRTH Secretary Vijay Chhiber (IAS:1978:MT) is holding the charge of Chairman NHAI.
