However, under extraordinary circumstances, the Govt has the discretionary powers to give extension even beyond seven years. Ever since the NaMo assumed power, his administration has given an extension to at least seven officers for a period beyond seven years. As a matter of fact, three got an extension under Central Staffing Scheme whereas four officers serving under Non-CSS got an extension beyond seven years. Officers serving under Central Staffing Scheme who got deputation beyond seven years are Ms. Sanjeevanee Kutty (IAS:1983: MH) who was given extension from 12 Jan 2016 to 10 Sept 2016 whereas Dr. Preeti Sudan (IAS:1983) got an extension from 17 July 2015 to 30 July 2016. Binod Kumar Singh (IPS:1994:UP), PS to the Union Home Minister, completed seven years under central deputation on 18 May 2016 and got an extension till 09 April 2017. Ms Maninder Kaur Dwivedi (IAS:1995:CG) and Gaurav Dwivedi (IAS:1995:CG) too will continue at Centre till September 2017 whereas both of them completed 07 years tenure in the third week of 2016. On the other hand officers under Non-CSS who got an extension beyond 07 yrs are Abhishek Singh (IAS:1995:NL) who was given an extension from 28 Jan 2016 to 31 March 2017; N C Asthana (IPS:1986: KL) got an extension from 04 Feb 2016 to 31 Jan 2017; Sanjiv Kumar Singh (IPS:1987: MP) got an extension from 07 July 2016to 05 July 2017; Abhin Dinesh Modak (IPS:1997: TN) got an extension from 06 Sept 2013 to 05 Sept 2016; and Ravi Kant (IPS:1998: OR) completed his seven years tenure on 24 Sept 2015 but he is continuing as per directions of the Supreme Court.
