HAL to set up logistics bases in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka

HAL is planning to set up logistics bases in four countries -- Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka -- as part of the initiative to woo countries to buy light combat aircraft Tejas and other military helicopters.

State-run aerospace companyis seriously focusing on boosting exports in sync with the government's priority and identified South East Asia, West Asia and North Africa to sell key platforms like Tejas, attack helicopter Rudra and advanced light helicopter Dhruv.

The Prime Minister had set an ambitious defence export target Chairman and Managing Director of $5 billion in the next five years asking all key military manufacturers to work hard to achieve the target.

The HAL is looking at setting up maintenance facilities in these four countries as having logistics bases is key to sell the products and to ensure after-sales services. Without divulging details, Madhavan said a number of countries in West Asia are also in touch with the HAL for possible procurement of its key products.

The public-sector headhunter (PESB), on Friday, selected Alok Verma (GM, HAL) for the post of Director (Human Resources), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Altogether Seven candidates appeared before the selection board for interview held at PESB today.

Subject to requisite clearances and ACC approval he may replace V M Chamola; the outgoing Director retiring on December 31, 2019.

Velpari M S (GM, HAL) appointed Director (Operations) Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) till his superannuation i.e. February 28, 2022. PESB had selected him for the post on January 01, 2019. (CLICK to see weblink)

 

He may take over the charge on August 01, 2019 from Sunil Kumar, the outgoing Director, retiring this month end.

Subject to requisite clearances and ACC ratification Velpari may succeed Sunil Kumar; the outgoing Dircetor retiring July this year.
