CSR: REC projects worth Rs 2.34 Crore inaugurated in Arrah, Bihar

R K Singh Union Minister of State (IC) for Power & New and Renewable Energy inaugurated CSR projects undertaken by REC Ltd. (Formerly Rural Electrification Corporation) worth Rupees 2.34 Crore, in Arrah (Bhojpur District), Bihar, through video conferencing on 16 September 2020.

There were a total of 28 schemes, which included 13 schemes for P.C.C. Construction of roads, 11 schemes for installation of LED/ Solar and high mast lights, 4 other schemes for general public viz. construction of boundary wall in Gaushala, construction of shed in Mahavir temple, renovation of Arrah's fish market, and construction of new classrooms and boundary wall in Mohanpur Primary School. The main objective of the project is to improve and provide basic infrastructure & developmental facilities in the villages of Ara block in Bhojpur district. S. K. Gupta (CMD), Ajoy Choudhury (Director, Finance), R Lakshmanan (IAS), ED from REC Limited shared their thoughts on the occasion. District officials and members in public from Arrah were also present during the occasion. The event was graced by Amarinder Singh, and Sanjay Singh Tiger, Ex MLAs who addressed the gathering at the occasion in Arrah. Other prominent leaders like Prem Ranjan Chaturvedi, Rajeshwar Singh, Hakim Prasad, Vijay Kumar Singh, and Suryakant Pandey were also present at the occasion. All social distancing norms were followed during the event.

PFC signs agreement with IIT Kanpur on training, research & entrepreneurship development

Government-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC), India's leading NBFC, signed an MoA with the Indian Institute of Technology- Kanpur for Training, Research, and Entrepreneurship Development in Smart Grid Technology. Under the MoA, PFC will provide financial assistance of Rs. 2,38,97,000/- (Rupees Two Crore Thirty-Eight Lakhs and Ninety-Seven Thousand only) to IIT-K under its CSR initiative.

R Murahari, Executive Director (CSR&SD), PFC informed that the objective of the pact is to provide support to IIT-K in developing infrastructure for research and development on smart grid technology.

As part of the project, IIT-K will also provide training on smart grid technology to 90 participants and provide fellowship to 9 selected candidates for the development of ideas on Smart Grid Technology. The fellows will be assisted by the Start-up Innovation and Incubation Centre (SIIC) of IIT-K and encouraged to take up entrepreneurial activities.

NMDC Contributes Rs 150 Crore to PM CARES FUND to tackle COVID-19

The largest iron ore producing Navratna NMDC has made yet another big contribution to fight against COVID-19 when it donated Rs 150 crore in PM CARES Fund.

NMDC CMD N Baijendra Kumar (IAS), CMD tweeted on March 30: “To deal with the difficult times arising out of COVID 19 in the Country, #NMDC will be donating Rs 150 crore to #PMCARES FUND. It is a small contribution from @nmdclimited for a National Cause on the appeal of @narendramodiji our Hon PM.”

This gesture was immediately responded and appreciated by Union Minister for Steel and Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan by saying that “In times of the nation's need, no contribution is too small, we all must come together and help in whichever and whatever way we can.”

With this contribution NMDC becomes the first PSU to respond to the PM’s call for contributions to combat the Corona virus. This initiative by NMDC once again establishes the company’s commitment to social causes and its support in times of crisis.

PM CARES: IRCON extends support of rupees five Crore to fight COVID-19

IRCON International Limited (IRCON) has come forward to provide a financial assistance of Rs. 5 Crore to Prime Minister CARES Fund through CSR fund and employee contribution. IRCON CMD S K Chaudhary said that due to Covid-19, the current situation in India is unprecedented and this amount would be utilized towards fighting COVID-19. He added that, IRCON stands strongly by the society in these testing times.

He further added that the world is facing the menace of COVID-19, of which India is no exception. The world over, this pandemic is causing a constant blow to the economies and the very fabric of human lives and there should be every effort to thwart a socio-economic collapse. SAIL employees contribute Rs 3 crore to cyclone Fani relief work in Odisha

The employees of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) have contributed Rs 3 Crore towards the current relief work going on in Odisha after the devastation caused by cyclone Fani.

 

The employees’ contribution was given to Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). Chairman SAIL Anil Kumar Chaudhary handed over the sum through a cheque to the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday, June 14, in the presence of Union Minister for Steel Dharmendra Pradhan at Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi.

 

Earlier, SAIL stood steadfastly to provide help in cyclone affected areas of the State. Scores of electricity poles were moved on an urgent basis by SAIL to replace the polls damaged in the cyclone. The company also moved in special quality Wide Parallel Beam (WPB-160), or huge poles, as its topmost priority in response to the immediate requirement of the State Government.

IRCON provides an Ambulance under CSR initiative

Ircon International Ltd. (IRCON) has provided an ambulance on March 30, 2019  at Government Hospital of Phalodi town of Jodhpur, Rajasthan under one of its CSR initiatives. The ambulance is equipped with facilities like nebulizer, BP machine, glucometer, suction machine, and oxygen cylinder, etc. The ambulance will further strengthen the health services in the area by providing emergency assistance to common people. IRCON has recently completed the widening and strengthening of existing Bikaner-Phalodi section of NH-15 on BOT (Toll) basis.

HUDCO registers 87% growth in disbursements in FY 2018-19

HUDCO CMD, Dr M Ravi Kanth, has said that the during 2018-19, the company sanctioned a total of 20.6 lakh dwelling units those in the EWS and LIG categories involving the disbursement of Rs. 31,010 crores, representing a growth of 87% over the previous year’s disbursements of 16,565 crores. 

 

He said HUDCO became a listed company in 2017 and has maintained its AAA rating for the third consecutive year. As of December 2018, HUDCO’s gross NPA stood at 5.82% and net NPA at 0.80%, which is among the lowest in the sector. HUDCO is expected to get Excellent rating for the eighth year in a row, for the tripartite MoU signed by HUDCO with MoHUPA and DPE for the year 2018-19.

 

Dr. Kanth pointed out that since inception, the company has financed over 17,100 housing and infrastructure projects with a cumulative sanction of Rs. 2,01,931 crore and disbursements of Rs.1,66,175 crore. HUDCO has supported more than 19.34 million houses in the country, both in rural and urban areas, thus making it the largest facilitator of housing delivery in the country.

 

HUDCO has also been consistently working to accelerate the pace of providing quality urban infrastructure in the country over the decades by financing over 2,200 infrastructure projects, covering utility, social and commercial infrastructure. Major infrastructure projects sanctioned include a line of credit of Rs. 2175.30 crore to Odisha Urban infrastructure Fund Board for stormwater/drainage works in five cities of Odisha and financial assistance of Rs. 200 crore to Agartala Smart City Ltd.

 

HUDCO has been identified as one of the Central Nodal Agencies (CNA) to channelize the subsidy under the Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme of Housing for All (Urban) Programme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. As CNA, HUDCO has executed MoU with 86 Banks/ Prime Lending Institutions (PLIs) for EWS/LIG category and with 80 Banks/PLIs for MIG-I and MIG-II. It has disbursed Rs.318.03 crore as CLSS subsidy to EWS/LIG 14825 beneficiaries and Rs.86.33 Crore as CLSS subsidy to 4215 MIG beneficiaries till 31-03-2019.

 

During 2018-19, the company disbursed Rs.260.99 crore CLSS subsidy to 11738 EWS/LIG beneficiaries and Rs.80.96 crore CLSS subsidy to 3937 MIG category beneficiaries, through its Retail Finance Window i.e. HUDCO Niwas.

 

As part of its capacity-building efforts, HUDCO conducted five research studies and 16 training programmes, including three International training programme for professionals under the ITEC programmes of the Ministry of External Affairs.

 

The annual HUDCO Design Awards, which give recognition and encourage innovative ideas of architects, town planners, and engineers that make cities inclusive, liveable and environmentally sustainable, were given to seventeen awardees under five categories.

 

In line with the thrust areas identified in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability Policy, HUDCO has sanctioned assistance of Rs. 9.30 crore for socially beneficial proposals all over the country, such as sanitation, education and healthcare, renewable energy solutions, employment-oriented skill training programmes and rehabilitation housing for flood victims in Kerala.
