A young Gujarat IAS officer has turned his old hobby of drawing caricatures to good use for the promotion of the ECI message to voters to participate in the election wholeheartedly.

Nitin Sangwan, a 2016 batch IAS officer, has drawn up a caricature logo of a lion in the interactive voting awareness material. The lion is named Saawaj, a popular local name.

Sangwan, who's posted as an assistant collector in Veraval at present and will be the assistant returning officer of Somnath this election, has reportedly said that officers are supposed to make such election voter awareness material that people of different age groups can connect to. As the lion is popular in the region where he is posted, he thought of using it as the election ambassador. He also made sketches with voter awareness messages. His senior and district collector Ajay Prakash encouraged him.

There are many interesting messages promoted by Saawaj. One such poster read: "V for Vote, V for Victory. In elections, candidates are not the only winners. Voters also win by voting for their candidates."

Sangwan has done his MBA from IIT Madras after engineering.
