Mizoram's civil society last week
urged PM Narendra Modi to reinstate previous state Home Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo (IAS:1987:GJ) who was transferred by previous Chief Electoral Officer S. B. Sashank. The civil society coordination
committee, which spearheaded a massive movement for Shashank's removal, said
they have formally requested the PM to do this in the interest of the state.
They also want the officer to be promoted as chief secretary of the state after
the election. Chuaungo was removed by Shashank
after the latter registered a report with the election commissioners that the
officer was "interfering with the election process in the state".

The civil society coordination committee, which spearheaded a massive movement for Shashank's removal, said they have formally requested the PM to do this in the interest of the state. They also want the officer to be promoted as chief secretary of the state after the election.
