The race for the post of Bihar DGP has gathered momentum as DGP P K Thakur (IPS:1980: BH) prepares to hang up his boots. Power corridors are buzzing that 1984 batch IPS K S Dwivedi may be made the new state police chief. Currently, he serves as DG, Training.
In case Dwivedi, a native of Uttar Pradesh, is picked as next state police chief he will have a brief tenure as he is scheduled to retire in January next year.
Earlier, it was speculated that the senior-most cadre officer S K Sinha (IPS:1983: BH) might return from the center where he is holding one of the most coveted chairs of Secretary (Security) at the Cabinet Secretariat.
Further, two other senior officers Rajesh Ranjan (IPS:1984:BH) and Kumar Rajesh Chandra (IPS:1985:BH) are said to be unwilling to return to the state as one is aspiring for the BSF Chief post in October and the other has already joined the league to be become a DG at the centre. Though Ravindra Kumar's name (IPS:1984:BH) is also doing rounds for the top cop job.
