The appointment of new Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, is expected to take place at any point of time now as the outgoing Secretary, Rajeev Mehrishi (IAS:1978:RJ) is set to superannuate on August 31. The latest grapevine has it that Shaktikant Das (IAS:1980:TN) may be appointed as successor to Mehrishi. Name of Hasmukh Adhia (IAS:1981:GJ) is also doing rounds for the post. Earlier Anil Swarup's (IAS:1981:UP) name too did rounds for the post. Though the subtle rumours about extension to Rajeev Mehrishi are still doing rounds but reportedly, the proposal was rejected by the Govt in the month of July itself after which 'Indianmandarins' had anticipated in its report (August 08, 2015) that Rajasthan CM would take him on board as Advisor to CM after his retirement on Aug 31.
