The power corridors are abuzz that appointment of NHRC Chairman is expected to take more time than it was expected earlier. Earlier Kerela Governor S Sathasivam's (former CJI) name was being considered as final one for the post which had fallen vacant in June this year after former CJI, K G Balakrishnan completed his five years term. The post of NHRC chairman has always been held by a former CJI ever since the panel was set up in 1993. The latest buzz indicates that the incumbent CJI, Sri H L Dattu may be named as the new Chairman, NHRC after he would superannuate in the month of December this year.
