The public sector headhunter on 09 March 2017 set the ball rolling for the appointment of first CMD of Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (POSOCO). The newly constituted fully independent CPSE (under Ministry of Power) will have five Board-level posts of CMD, Director (Market Operation), Director (System Operation), Director (HR) & Director (Finance). Reportedly, PSEB will initiate the selection process for Director level posts in the coming weeks. The last date of submission of applications for these posts is 01 May 2017.
Having separated from Power Grid Corporation Ltd (PGCIL) on 03 January 2017, POSOCO is now a fully independent CPSE. The subsidiary was eventually made a separate company, leaving the parent firm with only the task of setting up transmission links. Formed in March 2010 on the recommendations of Girish B Pradhan Committee (the then AS in MoP) to handle the power management functions of PGCIL, it was a wholly owned subsidiary of PGCIL till 2 January 2017. Armed with 05 Regional Load Despatch Centres (RLDC) and a National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), it shoulders the responsibility of ensuring the integrated operation of the Grid in a reliable, efficient manner.
