Finally the acting police chief Hitesh Chandra Awasthi (IPS:1985:UP) was appointed as full-time DGP. Following the retirement of O P Singh on January 31, 2020 (DG Vigilance) was given the the additional charge of DGP. On the basis of a panel received from the UPSC and CM Adityanath’s approval Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avnish Kumar Awasthi issued the order on Wednesday.Currently, S Javeed Ahmed (IPS:1984:UP) and Dr AP Maheshwari (IPS:1984:UP) are senior to Awasthi. Ahmed, working in state, is going to retire soon whereas Maheshwari is serving at Centre as DG, CRPF.
