With Jammu and Kashmir acquiring a new status of Union
Territory from October 31 by getting bifurcated into two Union Territories, the
status of IAS and IPS officers working there will also be changed. The old
officers will continue with their job in these newly created UTs. However, new
recruits will be placed under AGMUT cadre. As per the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 other
officers will continue with their services as per the new order till the new LG
promulgates new orders. As per the news Act IAS, IPS and IFS cadre will be
working but decisions on them will now be taken by LG with the consultation of
Home ministry.
