Lucknow (19.12.2022): Speculation is rife that Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra (IAS: 1984: UP) may get a one-year extension as his last extension is getting over on December 31, 2022. However, many senior IAS officers are vying for the coveted post. 
But if Mishra does not get an extension, then there is a chance of Manoj Kumar Singh (IAS: 1988: UP) being appointed as the new UP CS. 
However, Mahesh Kumar Gupta (IAS: 1987: UP), Sanjeev Kumar Mittal (IAS: 1987: UP), Hemant Rao (IAS: 1987: UP) are senior to him while Rajneesh Dube (IAS: 1988: UP) and Juthika Patankar (IAS: 1988: UP) are from the same batch. Ms Patankar’s VRS request is yet to get cleared. It may be underlined that the superannuation of officers senior to MK Singh is more than one year after December and Singh will have tenure in service till July 2025.
