New Delhi (04.08.2023):Union Minister of State for Personnel Dr Jitendra Singh told the Rajya Sabha that there are a total 3411 vacancies of All India Services and Indian Revenue Services officers that include 1,365 vacancies in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 703 vacancies in the Indian Police Service (IPS), 1,042 vacancies in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and 301 vacancies in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
The filling up of these vacancies is an ongoing process and the Centre is committed to expediting the recruitment process. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) annually to fill these prestigious civil service positions, including IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS, through direct recruitment.
The government has increased the annual intake of IAS officers to 180 through the CSE till CSE-2022. Intake of IPS through the CSE has been increased to 200 from CSE-2020. Intake of IFS has been increased to 150 in 2022. The Department of Revenue has reported 301 vacancies for filling through CSE-2023.
