Three industrialists and an academician join RBI central board

964New Delhi (16:06.2022): Three industrialists, known for their eminent contributions to the economy and making it self-reliant, have been nominated to the board of the RBI for a term of four years each. Anand Gopal Mahindra, Venu Srinivasan, Pankaj Ramanbhai Patel, and an academician (Ravindra H. Dholakia) are appointed as part-time non-official Directors on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India. Mahindra and Srinivasan are known for their immense contributions to the domestic automobile industry, while Patel, currently Chairman of Cadila healthcare which is the fifth-largest pharmaceutical company, is credited with immense contribution to the indigenization of critical drugs. Srinivasan's wife Mallika Srinivasan heads the PESB. The appointments came into effect from June 14. The aforementioned appointments have taken the RBI’s central board strength to 15 members.
