New Delhi (03.11.2025): The Centre’s unique move that grabbed attention recently is still doing rounds in power corridors. The Vice President of India Secretariat recently issued an advisory asking all Union Cabinet Ministers to present a detailed report card on their respective ministries to Vice President C P Radhakrishnan.
The objective behind this comprehensive review remains undisclosed, leading to speculation across the capital’s political and administrative landscape. However, a former Union Secretary who served under the Law Ministry said, “It's an advisory note requiring ministries to brief the Vice President on their working and achievements, which will help him in discharging his functions as Chairman of Rajya Shabha.”
The Vice President's Secretariat requested that ministries submit both a presentation and a brief note in advance, covering specific performance metrics. This documentation is expected to detail:
• The structure and mandate of the respective ministry.
• A comparative analysis of achievements over the last 11 years against historical performance.
• The important accomplishments during the current third term of the administration.
• Future plans and strategic roadmap for the ministry.
Sources indicate that several ministries and departments have already complied with the request and presented their progress reports to the Vice President. The remaining ministries are in the process of preparing their briefings.
