The BJP strategy to bank on Dalit votes in the ongoing Bihar elections and strategy around it seems to be a saving grace for the party. The reports are coming that Dalits comprise around 16 per cent of the total population of Bihar and they are in enmass backing NDA without having any influence of Paswan or Manjhi. Both the major alliances are vertically divided between OBC-Muslims on the side of Mahagathbandhan and upper caste and Dalits on the NDA side. With the appointment of a Dalit governor as Ramnath Kovid the NDA played its card too early. The NDA with the support of upper caste and some votes of other castes is not out of reckoning if not clearly wining.
