The Appointment Committee of Cabinet has appointed R Swaminathan, an Indian Foreign Service Officer of 1980 batch as Secretary, Consular Passport & Visa and Special Assignment. The post has been temporarily upgraded in the rank of Secretary. He will serve in the rank of Secretary till his scheduled etirement on August 31, 2015.
