Shah and officials working out new guidelines for lockdown 4.0

Home Minister Amit Shah has held meetings with top officials of the ministry including Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla. Several meetings were held with officials of the ministry ahead of the announcement of new guidelines for the fourth-phase of the coronavirus-induced lockdown.


The new guideline has to take place from May 18. Senior officials are busy drafting guidelines for the fourth-phase of the lockdown. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation on May 12 had said that the lockdown 4.0 will have a completely different form with new rules.


New guidelines will have to be in place by May 18 and greater relaxations and flexibility will be seen in the lockdown-4 with the gradual reopening of railways and domestic airlines while powers will the given to states and Union territories to define COVID-19 hotspots.


The final guidelines will be issued by the home ministry only after going through suggestions of state governments. State governments and UT administrations have submitted their recommendations.
